Former Capitola Mayor, Patch Blogger Bob Begun Dies at 84
Begun was the Mayor of Capitola in 2009.
The flag outside Capitola City Hall will fly at half-staff this week to honor the memory of Robert "Bob" Begun, a former treasurer, city councilman and mayor.
Begun, whose tenure as mayor took place in 2009, died over the weekend, his partner Doree Steinmann told Patch's June Smith.
According to the Santa Cruz Sentinel, Begun had surgery this month and had recently contracted pneumonia.

"Bob was a very good listener," Capitola Mayor Dennis Norton told the Sentinel. "He approached things with an open mind."
Even at 84-years-old, Begun was active in the community. On top of serving on the Finance Advisory Committee, his voice was well heard through his writing in several local publications, including Capitola-Soquel Patch.
