Email: jacob.bourne@patch.com
Phone: 831-214-8649
Hometown: Arcata, California
Birthday: April 18
Bio: Jacob is the local editor of the Capitola-Soquel Patch. A native of the Redwood-laden lands of Humboldt County, he is a 2009 graduate of Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Ore.
He has an extensive sports reporting background, including work covering the Portland Trailblazers and Washington Wizards for PA SportsTicker and DCSportsFan.com. He comes to Capitola via Washington, D.C., where he was the sports editor of 12 Patches.
Bourne is an avid fan of the San Francisco Giants and Golden State Warriors, and enjoys crossword puzzles and playing basketball in his spare time.
In his new role of local editor, he is excited to expand his reporting repertoire by learning about what really comprises the heartbeat of Capitola.
Your Beliefs
At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable.
This disclosure is not a license for me to inject my beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that my beliefs are on the record will cause you to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know.
Politics
I am a registered Democrat.
Religion
I consider myself Holiday Jewish. Given the opportunity at age 9 to stop going to Temple, I jumped at the chance. That said, I never miss a Seder and certainly identify myself as culturally Jewish.
Local Hot-Button Issues
Budget issues clearly affect the state, county and city. Count on me to keep you up to date on how local projects are affected by money issues.
