Council to Discuss Plastic Bags, Fiscal Responsibility
The Capitola City Council will meet for the last time in February on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Unless the public comment section of Thursday's meeting of the Capitola City Council becomes lively, we might be in for a snoozer.
There's nothing particularly lively on the agenda (no skateboards, mobile home park closure, etc.), but that doesn't mean there aren't important issues, namely responsible spending.
Although it's not on the agenda, the hire of Rudy Escalante as Capitola's chief of police (effective April 1) could very well be mentioned.

Below are the expected highlights of the meeting:
- On the Consent Calendar, the council is expected to authorize Mayor Termini to send a letter to the California Public Utilities Commission opposing the fee being imposed on PG&E customers opting out of the SmartMeter program.
- The council will continue a conversation from the Jan. 26 meeting about responsible spending.
- The issue of single-use plastic and paper bags will be revisited.
- Several project applications will be reviewed for possible development, including for a model manufactured home on Bay Avenue and temporary relocation of recycling facilities to the Nob Hill area.
