Capitola City Council Announces Special Wednesday Meeting

The Capitola City Council will meet this week, despite having just met last Thursday.

The Capitola City Council has called a special meeting, scheduled for Wednesday evening. The normal schedule dictates that the Council meets on the second and fourth Thursday of every month. As such, the next scheduled meeting was not planned to occur until next week.

They are now set to meet in closed session at 5 p.m. in the city manager's office to conference with legal counsel regarding the litigation of the residents of Surf & Sand Mobile Home Park versus the City of Capitola. The will also conduct public employee performance evaluations in closed session.

At 6 p.m., the Council will meet in open session in Council Chambers to hold a public hearing. The hearing, according to a release from the City, is "to receive public comments regarding the City's Application to the State of California 2008 Disaster Recovery Initiative of the State CBDG Program for $250,000 for development of the City's Local Hazard Mitigation Plan and Safety Element of the General Plan Update approved on June 9, 2011."
