Surfing Death Ruled an Accident, Memorial Paddle-out Scheduled

It has been determined that Scott Woodworth did not die of a medical condition.

Although there was speculation that could have been related to a heart attack, Sheriff's Deputy April Skalland has told Capitola-Soquel Patch that Scott Woodworth's death was instead the result of a a surfing accident.

"It was not a medical condition," Skalland said of the autopsy results. "They're saying it's an accident."

According to the Santa Cruz Sentinel, Woodworth, 60, died of neck injuries.
