Soquel Crash Victim Was on Family Vacation, Taught in Watsonville

Patricia Garske was killed east of Merced in her motor home on Monday.

Patricia Garske, the Soquel woman just east of Merced early this week, was on a family vacation to Yosemite, her mother told the Santa Cruz Sentinel.

It was a trip the family had taken every year since before Garske's birth. This year, she took along her daughter and two other passengers, one from Fremont and one from Santa Cruz.

The Sentinel reported that Garske was a lifelong local, attending Good Shepherd Catholic School, Branciforte Middle School, and UC Santa Cruz. Before her death, she taught at in Watsonville.

Garske was the only person killed in the crash, but her three passengers were all injured, as was the driver of the car that veered into her lane, hitting her motor home head-on. For further details on the incident, and watch the video above from Fresno's KFSN ABC report.
