Soquel and Aptos Cops Get Props at Sheriff's Office

Jacob Ainsworth of Soquel and Paul Ramos of Aptos were both given promotions last week.

Two of mid-county's finest are moving up the ranks at the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Phil Wowak has announced that Jacob Ainsworth has been promoted to sergeant and Paul Ramos has been promoted to lieutenant.

Ainsworth, 38, grew up in Soquel and graduated from Soquel High School. He also attended Cabrillo College and Gavilan College in Gilroy — graduating first overall in his class.

Ramos, 43, has been in law enforcement for 13 years. Originally from Aptos, he went to Aptos High School and UC Santa Barbara.

As a lieutenant, Ramos will be working with the Sheriff's Corrections Bureau. Sgt Ainsworth has been assigned to the Patrol Division.
