Scotts Valley Schools Employee Arrested for Child Molestation

Carl Guerin was arrested on Wednesday in Live Oak.

Santa Cruz County Sheriff's deputies arrested Carl Guerin on Wednesday, the director of technology for the Scotts Valley Unified School District.

Guerin, 51, was taken into custody at an undisclosed Live Oak address and charged with felony lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age and misdemeanour indecent exposure.

The charges stem from accusations that Gerin commited "multiple acts of inappropriately touching children that he was acquainted with as well as one act of exposing himself to a child," Sgt. Patrick Dimick said in a prepared statement.

While Guerin is employed by the Scotts Valley Unified School District, Dimick said he does not teach, and "it is believed that his crimes were isolated to children with which he was acquainted."

The sheriff's office had been investigating Guerin since late January. Throughout the course of the investigation, additional criminal acts against children were uncovered, Dimick said.
