Murder Victim's Widow Shoots at Police Officer on 41st Avenue

Amanda Sloan led a chase through Capitola and Soquel on Sunday that included firing shots at a Capitola police officer.

The wife of August homicide victim Jeff Smith led Capitola Police on a violent chase through Capitola and Soquel Sunday night.

According to KSBW, Amanda Sloan was pulled over on the 1800 block of 41st Avenue near the Capitola Mall. She yelled at the officer and took off in her silver BMW, getting on Highway 1 and exiting at Porter Street.

She continued onto Old San Jose Road, where KSBW reports that while 80 MPH next to Soquel High School, she fired a shot out of her car back at the officer following her. 

Sloan's vehicle was later found on Jarvis Road near Highway 17.

Smith, Sloan's late husband, was fatally shot in the driveway of Sloan's mother's house in the Soquel Hills in August. He has not been formally charged with the homicide.
