James Stuart Finnie was arrested on 41st Avenue on Saturday.

A routine traffic stop turned a bit hairy for Capitola Police Saturday afternoon when guns and ammunition were found on an out-of-state criminal.

Officers Chris Thompson and Brantly Sandretty stopped a man on the 1200 block of 41st Avenue just after 3 p.m. for traffic violations.

"During their investigation, they located a loaded .40 caliber firearm and a tactical shotgun inside the vehicle," Capitola Sgt. Mark Gonzalez said in a prepared statement.
