'X-Factor' Results: Chris Rene Reaches Finale, Marcus Canty Heads Home

Santa Cruz's Chris Rene is safe once again, still in the running for the $5 million prize.

Going home one step short of the finale was Marcus Canty of Bowie, Marlyand. Canty had been in the bottom two three weeks in a row leading up to Thursday, but had been . With no final sing-off this week however, Canty's lack of votes finally sent him home.

Now guaranteed at least a third-place finish, Rene will place higher than Santa Cruz's last singing competition star James Durbin, who came in .
