A Taste of Soquel Raises $8,500 for Charity

The money will feed as many as 34,000 Santa Cruz County children through the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Thanks to the September event dedicated to food, music and fun, about 34,000 meals will be provided by the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz.

A Taste of Soquel, which brought together musicians, farms, wineries, restaurants and many volunteers on Sept. 22 for a day of fun raised over $8,500, Laura Hamby announced this week. The money generated by the event will be presented to Second Harvest at an official ceremony on Oct. 28.

"Our sincere thanks to the community for sharing the joy and excitement," Hamby said in a prepared statement. "...This year's event ... proved to be a great day in the life of Soquel, filled with delicious food, excellent wine and good friends."
