New Brighton State Beach is part of the extensive California State Park system. Woodsy bluffs covered in cypress and Monterey pine trees overlook the one-half mile stretch of beach. There is also a grassy area on the beach with campsites and picnic tables. You might spot such wildlife as raccoons, deer and, in the fall, beautiful monarch butterflies that migrate to the Santa Cruz area each year.
