It was a perfect day to go fly a kite, Saturday, and that's just what throngs of families decided to do.
This year's Capitola Kite Classic, organized by Rainbow City Limit in Capitola, attracted local families as well as families from San Jose and Fresno.
"We were here a couple weeks ago, and we saw the sign so we decided to come back for this," said Bruce Boman, of San Jose, whose wife is a CPA and needed a weekend getaway after chaotic last-two-weeks of tax season.
Over forty contestants participated in the Kite Classic, most of them children.
"There were lots of winners, and lots of prizes," said Babbete Fenton who organized the event.
Since the event is mostly just for the kids and for the love of kite flying, everyone is a winner.
People were very generous in their donations to the American Red Cross, according to Fenton, and the weather was absolutely gorgeous.
"We couldn't have asked for a better day. It was perfect," Fenton said.
