Soquel Man was Blocks from Boston Explosion — Home Safe Now

Steve Boyadjian almost finished the Boston Marathon on Monday, but was thwarted by the explosion that killed three and injured over 100.

Some estimates show that over 140 people were injured in the explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday. Luckily, Soquel's Steve Boyadjian was not one of them.

Boyadjian, who is 66-years-old, ran the race and online records show he reached the 40K line at the 4:04:01 mark. The first explosion occurred almost six minutes later at 4:09:44, as Boyadjian neared the finish line.

But thankfully, according to a family member, he was unharmed in the attack. Laura Boyadjian wrote the following on the Santa Cruz Patch Facebook page:

"Steve is ok...he was a few blocks away from the finish when everything happened. Took us a few hours to find him, but he's back home and safe now!!"

Two other Soquel residents, along with one from Capitola and two from Aptos, ran the race and finished before the explosions.
