Soquel High School Leo Club Hosts Meeting Monday with New Members

The Leo Club, started in October, recently installed a new board and officers.

The Soquel High School Leo Club, founded in October, will meet Monday in Room 105 with its newly elected members.

At a meeting on November 8, Sarena Hineser-Harwood was elected as the club president for the 2012-2013 term. She is among over twenty members to join the newly chartered Leo Club, which stands for leadership, experience, opportunity and service. They are currently putting together a list of community projects to work on. 

Gianna Fisher was elected to serve as the new club secretary and Gabby David was elected as the new treasurer. The club’s vice-president is Nadine Kotab who, along with Hineser-Harwood, was instrumental in bringing the club to the Soquel High School campus. The faculty advisors are Counselor Bryan Anderson and teacher Robin Miranda.

Lion Krista Brassfield was additionally appointed as the Leo Club Advisor by the Cabrillo Host Lions Club and has worked very closely with the Soquel High School Leo Club Committee consisting of Lion Steve Irving, Lion Roger Houston, Lion George Piumarta, Lion Tim Piumarta, and Lion Fil Munoz.

“I am looking forward to leading various projects and Soquel High School Leo Club’s commitment to serving the community,” said Marshall Farrior, the new Director of Fundraising. Jennifer “Neddie” Gleitsmann was elected as the new Webmaster and Tally Hoover was elected as the Director of Projects and Events.

Fore more information about chartering a new Alpha Leo Club for youth ages 12 to 18, contact Lion Krista Brassfield at 831-331-0432. Omega Leo Clubs can be chartered for young adults ages 18 to 30. Lions clubs sponsor approximately 6,000 Leo clubs in 140 countries.
