Soquel High Misses State Goals

Soquel High failed to rank among the Top 100 Best High Schools in California for 2012 as announced Tuesday by US News and World Report magazine.
The school did not meet California state goals for the Academic Performance Index and fell just below the state average in college readiness, according to the report.

The clear winner was Pacific Collegiate School in Santa Cruz, listed as the best high school in California. Pacific just missed finishing in the top 10 nationally of Best High Schools, ranked number eleven.
A three-step process determines the news magazine's Best High Schools ranking. The first two steps ensured that the schools serve all of their students well, using performance on state proficiency tests as the benchmarks. For those schools that made it past the first two steps, a third step assessed the degree to which schools prepare students for college-level work.
