Local Art Adorns New Opal Cliffs School

Captola's newest school is open for business.

On Wednesday, Sept. 12, a fun and interactive ribbon cutting ceremony was conducted by the Soquel Union Elementary School District Board of Trustees for our new Opal Cliffs School.

A highlight of this wonderful celebration was the fantastic tiled mural wall that was created by Mr. Roy Segura, New Brighton Middle School Art teacher. Utilizing hundreds of pieces of ceramic student artwork and the incorporation of an ocean theme brings a warm and exciting curb appeal to our new school.

The beautiful design of the Opal Cliffs School is the result of exceptional team work and the desire to incorporate our local talent. Working hand-in-hand with Dennis Cohan, PENCON Construction, Lesley Miles, Weston Miles Architects and Barbara Griffin, Executive Director of Campus Kids Connection, enabled us to build a school that embraces the natural beauty that surrounds the Capitola community.
