 "Book Publishing 1-2-3: From the Writer's Fingers to the Reader's Hands"

Sprinkled with stories and tips (e.g., how to find literary agents), this lecture/workshop is designed to both empower and inspire writers. First we’ll take a quick peek at the book business, then check out the debate over traditional vs. self-publishing. We’ll also briefly explore genres such as children’s literature and memoirs, and then toss in a handful of ideas to help writers get published — and sell their work.

Bring a pen and paper — other highlights include writing exercises, the “Editor’s Tips on Craft” segment, and the Q&A session.

Presenter: Laurie Gibson, the editor/proofreader whose projects include Alice Walker’s novel The Color Purple, the WWII memoir of President Herbert Hoover, and several titles by bestselling business author Brian Tracy. During her 15-year career, Laurie has also worked with scores of first-time authors.
