Cabrillo College Graduation Set for 6 p.m.

Cabrillo will graduate its class of 2011 this evening, with this year's class being the largest graduated in four years.

With another semester coming to a close, Cabrillo College passes on one more class of graduates to the next stage of education, and the event will be celebtrated with tonight's commencement ceremony. 

Nearly 1,000 students will earn degrees and certificates at the Cabrillo College commencement ceremony at 6 p.m.  Friday.

The 965 graduates compose the largest class the school has had in four years.

Cabrillo was founded in 1959 and has campuses in Aptos, and Scotts Valley. The college offers over 100 academic and career technical education programs that serve multiple educational goals such as A.A. and A.S. degrees, certificates of achievement, skills certificates, transfer to 4-year institutions or for lifelong learning and personal enrichment.

The graduation will take place at at Carl Connelly Stadium on the ocean side of campus. While guests are unlimited, due to the large capacity of the venue, parking will be less ample.

The college suggests that all guests carpool and arrive by 5:30 p.m. to find parking and a seat. The ceremony will last approximately 90 minutes. 

Graduates are encouraged to donate their caps and gowns following the event to next year's class. 

If it rains, the festivities will be moved to the Cabrillo College gymnasium.

There will be a reception with refreshments in the school pavilion following the ceremony.
