VIDEO: Ed Bottorff Sworn into Capitola City Council

Bottorff officially won one of two council spots on Dec. 5, when all late results were counted.

Last Wednesday, December 5, Ed Bottorff was sworn into the Capitola City Council.

Bottorff, a Republican, worked for the Alameda County Fire Department for 30 years. Upon his retirement, he moved to Capitola, volunteering in several community organizations such as the Capitola-Soquel Chamber of Commerce and the General Plan Advisory Committee.

His platform included improving the appearance of the Esplanade and a potential hotel at the old Theater Capitola site.

With 35.7 percent of the vote, Bottorff won one of two seats in the Capitola City Council, his first term. A spot also went to Dennis Norton, who won 33.7 percent of the vote for his second term in a row.
