Skate Park Debate To Continue at City Council Meeting

The skate park argument is far from over in Capitola.

Thursday's meeting of the Capitola City Council very well could be part two of .

Wednesday was all about opposition to the park. Thursday is bound to have a stronger showing from those in favor of the skating facility. In addition to a public hearing on the skate park, the will be discussed once again.

Here are the anticipated highlights of the meeting:

  • A public hearing on the proposed skate park will be held. The agenda suggests that the council approve the plan for the park, but with strong opposition, that could easily not occur.
  • Financing for the closure of Pacific Cove Mobile Home Park will be discussed. Currently, the $2.375 million price tag of the closure is a reach for the city.
  • The council will authorize staff to "issue the six-month written notice of termination of tenancy to the residents" of the mobile home park.
  • There will be discussion regarding allocation of up to $33,000 toward funding a public opinion poll of current city services.
