Last month, we asked you, Capitola-Soquel Patch readers for your questions for the Capitola City Council candidates.
This year, the council seats of Dennis Norton and Kirby Nicol are expiring. With Nicol having reached his term limit, he could not run again. Incumbent Norton is again on the ballot, this year against Ed Bottorff and Jacques Bertrand — the three men vying for two spots on the council.
Norton served as Capitola Mayor in 2011, Botorff is on the Capitola Parking & Traffic Commission and Bertrand is the outgoing Capitola Treasurer.
We forwarded your questions to the candidates and have been publishing their answers over the last two weeks. See links to each question with all the candidate answers below:
Question 1: Will anything finally happen with the Rispin Mansion? What are your plans for the property?
Question 2: Should Capitola Police increase enforcement on laws like no smoking on the Esplanade and no dogs on the beach?
Question 3: How can Capitola bridge the gap between the Village and 41st Avenue?
Question 4: Do political parties matter on Capitola City Council?
Question 5: What can the council do to help seniors in Capitola?
Do you know who you're voting for? Experienced Dennis Norton? New blood Ed Bottorff? Financial guru Jacques Bertrand? Tell us in the comments!
