As of Tuesday afternoon, there are SOTU watch parties planned for Santa Cruz County.

One is hosted by Patrick O'Rourke at his house at 233 Florence Dr. in Aptos. O'Rourke calls it the "Success 2012 SOTU Watch Party," and the party description says "we're getting together in our neighborhood to watch the 2012 State of the Union Address, celebrate our work so far, and to plan out the next couple of months in our area." The Aptos party is set to begin at 4:30 p.m.

The other party is set for 6 p.m. at the Santa Cruz Center for Change (740 Front St. Suite 165 in Santa Cruz) hosted by Merle Lustig. Parking is available in the structure next to the building.

Plenty of watch parties are also planned over the hill in San Jose, Campbell, Mountain View and Palo Alto. If you've got friends on the other side of 17 who are also interested in the political landscape of the nation, those parties might be for you.
