Council to Talk Hotel Tax and Gilroy Avenue Traffic

Local voters could be given the chance to vote on an increase in the hotel room tax in November, depending on a public hearing set for Thursday at the meeting of the Capitola City Council.

In addition, the council will discuss local street traffic, cop cars, a fence permit and the city's budget.

  • The council will hear a report on the traffic on Gilroy Avenue and make a recommendation to the police department based on that report. 
  • An increase in the hotel tax (Visitor Service Fee) will be discussed. The increased tax could end up as a measure on the November ballot.
  • Mayor Termini will proclaim June 17-24 as Amateur Radio Week.
  • On the Consent Calendar, the council is expected to approve the purchase of a $20,695.73 unmarked detective car for the police department.
  • Also on the Consent Calendar, the council will likely adopt a resultion that accepts the proposed 2012/2013 Fiscal Year budget for the general fund.
