Council Candidates Holding Court Wednesday Evening

Dennis Norton and Ed Bottorff will be answering questions in council chambers form 7 - 9 p.m.

With the local and presidential elections under a month away, Obama and Romney aren't the only candidates taking the public stage.

In Capitola, the candidates for city council will be facing the music Wednesday evening in an event organized by the Capitola-Soquel Chamber of Commerce.

The public forum is from 7 - 9 p.m. and will feature questions submitted by the public ahead of time, as well as questions taken at the door.

There are two vacancies on the Capitola City Council, including the seat left open by Kirby Nicol, who has reached his term limits and cannot run again this year. The other seat is Dennis Norton's. He is seeking reelection.

Three men have filed candidacy papers and are seeking votes in the election — Norton along with Ed Bottorff and exiting Capitola Treasurer Jacques Bertrand. Norton and Bottorff will take part in the public forum Wednesday. According to the Capitola-Soquel Chamber of Commerce, Bertrand will not be able to attend as he manages a health-related issue.

The forum will be broadcast live on local channel 25 as well as on the city website.

What are the most important issues facing Capitola that the candidates need to address? Tell us in the comments!
