City Council Preview: Derek Johnson Signs Off

A mini-shake-up of city staff will occur at Thursday's Capitola City Council meeting.

There's no rent control, egregious beach trash or single-use bags on the Capitola City Council agenda this week, but there are a few items that could still be noteworthy come 7 p.m. Thursday night.

  • On the consent calendar, an ordinance will be adopted enforcing stricter regulations on styrofoam in Capitola.
  • City Manager Jamie Goldstein will propose that Susan Westman take over as interim director of community development in the absence of Derek Johnson, who will be .
  • The council will receive a report on a strategy for greenhouse gas emission reduction.
  • There will be a multi-part public hearing following a presentation by the Community Development Department regarding zoning code amendments.
