Capitola Sex Offenders Mapped Online: Local Details on Megan's Law Website

Visitors to a state-operated website site who acknowledge the disclaimer are able to search individual communities and click on specific locations to reveal names and addresses.

There are more than a dozen registered sex offenders living at documented addresses in Capitola, Soquel and Aptos, according to an interactive California Sex Offender Locator Map on the state-operated Megan's Law website.

The numbers and locations generated by www.meganslaw.ca.gov clearly show some overlap in totals for each individual community, but visitors to the site who acknowledge the disclaimer are able to search individual communities and click on specific locations to reveal names and addresses.

Some addresses show more than one registered sex offender at the address. For example, there are two registered sex offenders living in separate apartments at 750 Bay Avenue in Capitola, according to the Megan's Law site.

The breakdown by individual city on the Megan's Law site shows seven registered sex offenders in Capitola, 13 in Soquel, and 14 in Aptos. Capitola-Soquel Patch underscores that there is overlap in the site's calculations.

The state's Megan's Law website is operated by the Office of the Attorney General, Department of Justice.
