Capitola Needs Youth Participation on Environmental Commission

Teens with an interest in the environment are in demand at Capitola City Hall.

Calling all high school and college students from California who are interested in local environmental issues — the City of Capitola is looking for you.

The Capitola Commission on the Environment has a vacant youth seat that the city council is looking to fill. According to a statement from the city, applicatns should have "an interest in protection and enhancement of the city’s environmental influences; i.e., Soquel Creek, the ocean and Capitola Beach, and associated riparian and special habitat areas."

Applications can be picked up at city hall (420 Capitola Ave.) or on the city website. There is no application deadline.

The current commission members will review aplications and make an appointment recommendation to the city council. The council will then make its official selection at a Thursday meeting.

Regular meetings of the commission are held at least four times a year and fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at Capitola City Hall.
