Two Injured in Motorcycle Collision on Highway 1

A motorcycle carrying two collides with car.

A crash on Highway 1 involving two motorcyclists and one vehicle occurred shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday. The accident occurred in the southbound lane just south of the 41st Avenue exit, according Emergency Radio Traffic.

The two motorcyclists, a man and a woman, were thrown from their motorcycle.

"It appeared that they had rear ended a vehicle that had stopped or slowed down," said Steve Walsh, Battalion Chief of Central Fire.

Traffic was moving at normal pace during the accident, so it is estimated that the motorcycle was traveling around 50 mph, according to Officer Hatcher of the California Highway Patrol.

The vehicle rear ended was a blue 2005 Honda Pilot. The female driver and two children were not injured, according to Officer Hatcher.

Both motorcyclists, who were not identified, were taken to the hospital. The man was transported to Dominican Hospital and the woman was airlifted to a trauma center in San Jose.
