Thirteen-Year-Old Arrested for Brommer Street Park Stabbing

A boy was arrested for stabbing a 16-year-old at a Live Oak Park on Tuesday.

Following , a 13-year-old male was arrested and brought to juvenile hall.

The suspect and the victim, both Live Oak residents, have known each other for a few years, Sheriff's Deputy April Skalland told Capitola-Soquel Patch.

"The victim believed that the suspect had stolen stuff from him, so he confronted him about it and they get into a fight," Skalland said. "The suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the chest area one time and then took off running."

The victim was treated for his injuries before being flown to a San Jose hospital for further medical attention.

"It's listed as an assault with a deadly weapon," Skalland said. "I don't think the injury was very bad, not life-threatening by any means, which is probably why they charged him with assault with a deadly weapon instead of attempted homicide."

The father of the victim made the initial 911 call, and in the hours that followed, the help of witnesses and parents helped law enforcement find the suspect.
