An autopsy performed by the Santa Cruz County Coroner's Office revealed that the death of Guadalupe Cortez, 26, was an accidental drowning, Deputy April Skalland said on Wednesday.
Cortez was swimming in the San Lorenzo River near Ben Lomond over the weekend with two men. She was reported missing and found on Monday.
Cortez, a Soquel resident, was identified by her fringerprints, Skalland said.
The coroner also reported that hypothermia contributed to Cortez's death.
"Despite the results of the autopsy, sheriff's office detectives are actively invesigating Cortes's death," Skalland said. "At this time, the investigatio has not revealed anything to suggest that Cortez's death was more than an accident."
Anyone with more information on the incident should contact the sheriff's office at 831-471-1121.
