Soquel Teen Unconscious after Skateboard Fall

The boy will be treated for head injuries at a Bay Area trauma center.

A 14-year-old boy is en route to a trauma center via medical helicopter Thursday afternoon after suffering a fall from his skateboard.

The teenager took a plunge off the board at 2:09 p.m. on Hardin Way in Soquel, just off Soquel Drive.

He was unconscious but breathing when the incident was reported, according to emergency radio traffic.

Emergency personnel responded and took him to Dominican Hospital, where a helicopter is set to pick him up and take him over the hill to treat a head injury, Central Fire Spokesman Mike DeMars said.

Skateboarding is illegal in Capitola Village, but not in Soquel. In July of 2011, a , coming down Cliff Drive toward the Stockton Bridge.
