Jeff Smith was shot and killed in the Soquel Hills Thursday morning.

The man shot and was Jeff Smith, the Register-Pajaronian is reporting.

There have been no arrests made in connection to Smith's death, but Sheriff's Sgt. Steve Carney said there is no cause for alarm in the community that there is a killer on the loose — but rather that this was an isolated incident.

The Sheriff's Office has yet to confirm the identity of the victim as Jeff Smith, along with his father's positive ID, a woman who showed up at the crime scene around 11 a.m. Thursday told Patch that she suspected it to be "Amanda's husband."
