Shots Fired at a School Bus Thursday Night

There were no injuries, but two bullets struck the bus.

Last night, shortly after 7 p.m., gun shots were fired at a Pajaro Valley district school bus.

The school bus was returning from its after school drop-off route, and not carrying students at the time, but deputies located evidence suggesting that at least two .22 caliber rounds caused the damage, according to the Santa Cruz Sheriff's Office.

The driver was not physically injured.

According to the SCCO, the bus driver was driving past the Towers apartments when he heard a sound he thought was nearby construction work. He returned to the bus storage yard and found two shatttered windows in the bus, according to the SCCSO.

The Towers apartments are in the vicinity of the Airport Boulevard and Green Valley Road intersection.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriffs office is currently investigating the incident, and at this time law enforcement did not locate any suspects on the scene.

School resource officers have been made aware of the incident to ensure student safety at local schools. The driver will not be working today.

The Sheriff's Office asks that any witnesses to this incident call Sheriff's Investigations at 831-454-2311.

Sad. It just seems that there is no respect for anything in this town any more. I'm sure glad there were no kids on the bus and that the driver wasn't hit.

What type of person shoots at a school bus? This is both scary and sad. I hope those responsible are dealt with quickly.
