Sheriffs Arrest 19-Year-Old for Nine Graffiti Incidents

Santa Cruz Sheriffs deputies apprehended a man Sunday before midnight after a resident phoned 911 after spotting a man spraying paint on a fence at Soquel Drive and Peoples Lane in Aptos.

Deputies spotted the alleged vandal, Alexander Tinaza, 19, hiding paint cans and covered with paint himself. The paint matched that of the fresh fence painting 50 feet away, they said.

Deputies found nine locations with fresh paint along Soquel Drive, including fences and a car. Damages were estimated at $2,200 and Tinza was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.

Besides the giant white earrings, Tinaza had a tattoo matching the symbols he was painting, they said.
