Police Blotter: Man Punched on Esplanade

Victim knocked on door of police station to report incident.

A man claiming to have been assaulted on the Esplanade knocked on the door of the Capitola Police Department at 11:58 p.m. Tuesday night to report the incident.

The man said he had been punched in the face Tuesday night by a Hispanic male after a verbal altercation on the Esplanade, according to Sgt. Matt Eller.

He had a broken jaw and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

Eller said he did not know if the victim was drunk but added that he did smell of alcohol.

“One plus one usually equals two,” Eller said.
