Police Blotter: Kayak Stolen From Mooring Boat

Considering how many people were out in Capitola for the Begonia Festival, the crime reports are pretty tame.

Wednesday, Sept. 4
Car Break-In: Items were stolen from a vehicle on the 4500 block of Opal Street overnight. 

Monday, Sept. 2
Car Break-ins: Items were stolen when several vehicles were ransacked on the 1000 block of 38th Avenue overnight.

Restraining Order Violation: It happened on 42nd Avenue and Jade Street at 3 p.m. 

Shoplifting: It happened on the 1800 block of Clares Street around 4:30 p.m. A person was cited.

Theft: Reported on the 1800 block of 41st Avenue around 6:30 p.m.

Sunday, Sept. 1
Theft: A purse was stolen on the 1400 block of Wharf Road between 4:30 and 5:45 p.m.

Shoplifting: A person was ticketed on the 400 block of Capitola Road around 6 p.m. 

Battery: An officer took a cold report for a fight case on the 4700 block of Opal Cliff around 6:20 pm.

Saturday, Aug. 31
Parole Arrest: A theft suspect was arrested for a parole violation and other charges on the 4000 block of Capitola Road around 6 p.m.

DUI: A motorist was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving on 41st Avenue and Brommer Street around 1:30 a.m.

Friday, Aug. 30
Theft: A thief took a kayak that had been tethered to a boat mooring off the Capitola Wharf. 

Assault: A man was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and violating his probation around 1 a.m. on the 900 block of Capitola Avenue.

DUI: A woman was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving at California and Cherry avenues around 11 p.m.

Shoplifting: There were three reports on Friday of shoplifting—one at Kohls and two at the Capitola Mall.

DUI: A man was arrested on the 600 block of Capitola Avenue around 11:30 p.m.
