Photos: Police, Firefighters and More Host National Night Out Events

National Night Out is a series of nationwide community events aimed at increasing crime prevention awareness.

Local law enforcement held dozens of events throughout the county on Tuesday evening to celebrate National Night Out, a nationwide event meant to spread crime prevention awareness.

In Live Oak at Shoreline Middle School, the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office collaborated with Central Fire, Cal Fire and the Santa Cruz Police Department. At Jade Street Park in Capitola, the Capitola Police Department and Central Fire put on a great party for local families. Mayor Mike Termini and Police Chief Rudy Escalante even manned the barbecue (see photo evidence above).
