Foul play by friends led to a shooting that occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on Monday evening

A man was shot with a pellet gun in Soquel shortly after 7 p.m. on Monday. According to dispatchers, the man was shot on his left side and had blood on his head.

It took emergency personnel several minutes to find the injured man, who was flown to a Bay Area trauma center, as reports trickled in of his location across several Soquel Drive areas.

The incident occured after four friends became intoxicated and started shooting at each other with pellet guns, according to Paul Tashiro, a sheriff for Santa Cruz County. The victim started walking away, collapsed, and his companions continued to shoot at him.
