Foster Parent Suspected of Molesting at Least Two Children

Sheriff's deputies learned of the allegations Saturday.

A Soquel foster parent who has volunteered at local elementary schools is suspected of molesting at a 14-year-old boy and another child, the Sheriff's Office reported Friday.

The allegations came to light Saturday.

Steven Weissman, 57, was arrested after sheriff's deputies learned of the alleged sexual abuse of the teenager. A second victim was identified this week and investigators think other children may have been abused by Weissman, according to deputy Ryan Kennedy.

Weissman has been a foster parent for 16 years, Kennedy said. During that time, he has been involved in youth activities in the community and volunteered at area schools.

The Sheriff’s Office asks that anyone with information about this investigation call (831) 454-2311.
