Flipped Vehicle Slows Highway 1 Traffic

In case you were stuck in traffic Thursday afternoon, this was the cause.

A woman driving northbound on Highway 1 just north of Rio Del Mar Boulevard lost control of her vehicle at 12:36 Thursday afternoon, flipping it into the median.

The vehicle jutted partially into the left lane, slowing traffic. The woman remained in the driver's seat, complaining of chest pains, according to dispatchers.

Traffic crept at a slow saunter for upwards of 40 minutes as emergency personnel arrived and cleared the scene. The woman was not taken to the hospital, a dispatcher told Patch.
