Firefighters Save Live Oak Home

The flames spread from the laundry room to the roof before being extinguished.

Firefighters quickly saved a Live Oak home from disaster on Saturday, putting out flames that could have destroyed the house.

At 10:06 p.m., Central Fire crews arrived at 2360 Harper St. in response to reports of smoke and flames coming from the rear of the home. The fire spread from the laundry room to the exterior roof eaves, Central Fire Spokesman Mike DeMars said.

With the flames contained in 10 minutes and the incident put to rest in 15, there was little damage to the interior of the house. In all, 12 firefighters responded to the blaze.

The fire appears to have been accidentally started by "discarded smoking materials," DeMars said.

No one was injured in the fire.
