A Felton man who allegedly rear-ended a Wisconsin tourist on Highway 1 near Capitola on Tuesday afternoon tried to flee, but didn't make it very far because his wrecked, steaming car ran out of gas in Aptos, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Todd Buglione, 38, spoke with a CHP officer at Park Avenue and Cabrillo College Drive, where his 1999 green Subaru Forester had stalled. There, the officer noticed possible drug paraphernalia in the Subaru, according to the CHP.
Buglione apparently wasn't ready to give up and struggled with the officer, who shocked him with a stun gun to restrain Buglione, the CHP reported.
Buglione was arrested on suspicion of having drug paraphernalia (needles or a pipe), driving with a license suspended for prior DUI, hit and run, and resisting arrest, the CHP reported.
The 68-year-old Wisconsin woman also involved in the highway collision was not hurt. Her white Ford Fusion sustained moderate damage, according to the CHP.
