Fatal Crash Closes Soquel-San Jose Road

A man died when he flipped his truck off of Soquel-San Jose Road on Monday afternoon.

An attempt to pass a horse trailer on rural Soquel-San Jose Road resulted in the death of a 56-year-old Los Gatos man on Monday afternoon.

At about 3:45 p.m., the man, whose name has not been released, was driving northbound approaching Stetson Road, about 10 miles up from Soquel Drive, when his maneuver across the double yellow lines threw him over an embankment and into a tree, according to the Santa Cruz CHP.

His truck, a black 2005 Ford F-350, flipped in the collision but did not strike any other vehicles.

The road was closed from the time of the collision until 6:55 p.m., according to a CHP statement. 

There were no other injuries and the CHP continues to investigate the incident.
