Disabled Truck Carrying Flour Closes Southbound Highway 17 Lane at Summit Road

A severe traffic alert was in effect on southbound Highway 17 before Summit Road in Los Gatos due to a disabled truck carrying 78,000 pounds of flour at around 11:20 a.m.

The right slow lane has since re-opened.

Motorists were advised to expect delays and avoid the area.

California Highway Patrol officer Ron Simmons said the truck stalled on the slow lane at 11:24 a.m. on southbound Highway 17 north of the Summit.

The truck was broken down at the location for about an hour-and-a-half and CHP was on scene directing traffic while a tow truck was en route to move it.

The truck was finally towed and the road cleared at 1:10 p.m., Simmons said.
