Crime Spree: Three Locals Arrested

On May 10, they stole a truck, stole a safe, burned the truck and used stolen credit cards.

A series of crimes that ended at Safeway on 41st Avenue in Soquel earlier this month was solved by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office and Santa Cruz Police Department on Friday.

David Archuleta, 30, of Scotts Valley, Robert Bombaci, 22, of Santa Cruz and Adam Jones, 27, of Santa Clara were arrested after a two-week investigation, Deputy April Skalland said in a press release.

The three men are accused of stealing a white maintenance truck at DeLaveaga Park on March 10. According to the sheriff's office, this is how the rest of the crime spree happened:

"They drove the truck to Hertz Rental Car on Soquel Drive and attempted to break into a front glass window, but were unsuccessful. They went next door to Pearce European and successfully gained entry and stole a safe containing credit cards, debit cards and cash.

After the burglary, Archuleta, Bombachi and Jones drove the stolen truck up to Carbonera Drive and set the truck on fire. The Santa Cruz Police Department was dispatched to the arson and found evidence from the burglary inside the burnt truck.

"The three suspects leave Carbonera Drive. and use a stolen debt card at an ATM at the Bay Federal Credit Union on River Street. They then proceeded to DJ’s Mini Mart on Water St. and purchased two money orders for a total of $870.00. After they left DJ’s Mini Mart they went to the Safeway on Morrissey Avenue and made multiple purchases with the stolen credit cards. Lastly, a
stolen debit card was used at the Safeway on 41st Ave."

Surveillance cameras at multiple places along the crime tour captured the three men red handed. They have been charged with multiple counts of burglary, arson, conspiracy and auto theft.
