Capitola Officers Watching Over Santa Cruz Until Friday

Capitola PD is just one of several agencies helping out in Santa Cruz after Tuesday's shooting that killed two police officers.

Thursday is scheduled as the last day off for officers from the Santa Cruz Police Department following the shooting death of two officers on Tuesday.

Officers were given the day off Wednesday and Thursday, but are expected to return to work on Friday, an SCPD spokesperson said.

Staff from the Capitola Police Department, Watsonville Police Department, Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office and California Highway Patrol took over for SCPD Thursday.

All is expected to be back to normal, as far as patrol beats, on Friday morning.
