Auto Theft Task Force Recovers Stolen Boat and Trailer

Two were arrested this week in relation to the early 2011 theft of a ski boat and trailer.

Investigators assigned to the Santa Cruz Auto Theft Reduction Enforcement Team (SCARE) recovered a stolen ski boat and trailer on Wednesday morning, according to an official statement from the Santa Cruz CHP.

The stolen items were taken from a storage facility in Bradley, California in early 2011.

Two men, Kelly J. Ostlund, 31, of Aptos and Jose A. Godoy, 25, of Santa Cruz, were arrested in connection to the incident.

After SCARE served an arrest and search warrant, yhe boat and trailer were found at Godoy's Laurent Street residence. Investigators located co-suspect Ostlund at the intersection of Paul Minnie Drive and Soquel Avenue on Thursday morning, where he was arrested.

SCARE is made up of auto theft investigators from California Highway Patrol, Watsonville Police Department and the Santa Cruz County District Attorney's Office. To help combat vehicle theft, call the SCARE tip line at 831-465-7433.
