Accident on Highway 1 Slows Northbound Traffic

A vehicle hit an attenuator and went off the road.

The northbound traffic on Highway 1 was backed up for about a half mile due to an accident near the Bay and Porter exit overpass Saturday morning. Shortly after 10 a.m. a vehicle hit an attenuator (one of those "permanently-placed garbage cans"), according to the California Highway Patrol. The car then careened up the hillside below the underpass.

Luckily, the one-vehicle accident caused no injuries, and we now know what "attenuators" are, thanks to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.

Traffic is expected to clear up within the hour, but you may want to wait an hour or so before you jump in your car to head north this Saturday morning.
